Seniors Charity Invitation Day – 26th July 2022
On Tuesday, 38 members of the Seniors section & their invited guests played in this year’s Seniors Invitation Day.
76 players gathered for registration & coffee & bacon rolls, ready for an 08:30 “shotgun start” on the Brownlow course.
The weather was kind, with the strong winds of the previous days having moved away & although fairly cloudy it was pleasant golfing conditions.
As expected, the course was presented excellently by the Course Manager & his team & the visitors were very complimentary on the condition of the golf course, many playing at home courses that do not have the benefit of fairway irrigation.
After the round of golf, the clubhouse was filled with all the players and following a very welcome drink in the bar, enjoyed an excellent lunch, eating altogether in the Brownlow Suite.
The Seniors Invitation Day is the main Captains Charity fundraising day in the Seniors diary.
A raffle was organised and drawn while lunch was taking place. Additionally, immediately following lunch an auction was carried out where various donated items and golf vouchers from Belton Park to Woodhall Spa, went under the hammer.
Over £2,700 was raised on the day in support of Prostate Cancer UK & Beaumont House Newark. An exceptionally generous effort from all those who took part in the day.
The competition was a Better ball Pairs, played for the “Ian Saunders Memorial Challenge Cup”.
Some excellent scores were returned but the winning pair on the day were:-
Tom Parry (Belton Park) & Robert Tallentire (Radcliffe on Trent) with 49 points!
It was without doubt a very successful day.
So many, many thanks to all those who had a part to play in organising the day, helped on the day & especially to all those who took part.

Unfortunately, our first home match Vs Radcliffe on Trent GC had to be called off on the morning of the match due to a covering of snow on the golf course which fell overnight.
A new date for this match is being sought & if agreeable to Radcliffe it will be rescheduled for later in the year.
