Seniors vs Torksey - August 11th

In their first away match for several weeks, the Belton Park Seniors traveled to Lincoln Torksey for the return fixture on Wednesday, August 11th. After losing at Belton Park in the home fixture, Lincoln Seniors put out a very strong team.

On a beautiful sunny and warm day, the course was in immaculate condition with smooth, fast greens, and there were some very close games. With 4 results in, Belton had one win and 3 games were halved. With 2 more wins and 2 losses, the final result was a 4½ to 3½ away win for the Belton Park team. The Lincoln course has certainly benefitted from the installation of a full irrigation system.

SLGL Greetham Valley

Greetham Valley is not an easy course to get a result on, but we managed to win 9 out of the 12 matches to extend our lead in the South Lincs Southern League. We are now 10 points clear of Stoke Rochford and 18 clears of Greetham in third place. With just the home fixture to come on 12th August, we are now in a very strong position to win the league and qualify for the final at South Kyme on 18th August....but we still need a few more wins to make sure, so don’t get overconfident!

Captain Emily and sister Ellie both played magnificent golf this afternoon winning their three matches each very comfortably. Marcus once again had a tremendous battle in the lead-off match-winning two of his three matches. Special mention also to James Hayle who recovered from a very difficult start to come back and get an invaluable win in one of his matches and just failing to get a half in another, on the last green. This really was a tremendous team result and I am very proud of you all.

The team for our final match at home (which we have decided to play on the Brownlow course(1-18) ) in playing order, is as follows:

1) Emily Horsted, Captain
2) James Hayle
3) Ellie Horsted
4) Toby Hayle

This is another strong team and a big welcome to Toby who will be playing his first match for the club. Please get to Belton Park by 1.00 pm and the first tee will be at 2.00pm.

Finally, a thank you to the parents for your wonderful ongoing support which is greatly appreciated.

Stanrene Cup

The second Junior competition of the summer holidays, The Stanrene Cup was played on the Ancaster Course in lovely conditions. The quality of golf on display was excellent with only four shots separating the top three and all finished par or better. It was a very close contest with Captain Emily Horsted finishing on two under and her sister Ellie, a further two shots back in third after a strong finish.

After a superb front nine, Marcus Wildblood held on to deservedly win his first Junior competition at Belton Park Golf Club. Congratulations to Marcus and his nett 66 will see him further reduce his handicap. Marcus can be seen pictured below with the trophy.

Seniors Match vs The Leicestershire (Home) – Tuesday, August 3rd
