Belton Park Awarded SafeGolf Accreditation

Belton Park has been awarded SafeGolf Accreditation!

What is safeGolf?

The SafeGolf is a partnership of UK golf bodies committed to promoting a safe and positive environment for all those participating, working and volunteering in the sport of golf.

The SafeGolf partnership consists of members from the golfing bodies across Great Britain & Ireland and has been established to help golf respond to the issue of child protection in sport. Its mission is to safeguard the welfare of children and young people, as well as adults at risk, in the sport of golf.

SafeGolf is firstly, a website – – through which anyone with a concern about the welfare of a player, or the behaviour or practice of a coach, volunteer, organiser, parent or a player, can contact the lead safeguarding officer at their national governing body.

Secondly, it is the safeguarding standard England Golf will promote to all their affiliated clubs to ensure all clubs provide a safe and positive experience to children and young people whilst playing golf. The PGA are also using the standards to apply to all their PGA professional Coaches.

Belton Park Seniors vs Newark – April 21st

Belton Park Seniors played their first match of the season against a strong Newark team in cool breezy conditions. During the current Covid-19 restrictions, the two teams enjoyed a bacon roll and coffee before the match, outside of course and also socially distanced. The course was in good condition and, despite a cool breeze, the weather was kind to us.

With some very close games, Belton Park came out the eventual winners by 5½ to 2½ which was almost a reversal of the last match result back in 2019!

Unfortunately, we were not able to have lunch together after the match, but we were very grateful for the bacon roll and coffee before the match!

Junior Season underway at Belton Park

The new golfing season for the Belton Park Juniors got underway with the Ancaster Shield and the ADA Trophy competitions. Both events were played in unseasonal conditions, but the scoring was still excellent.

In the ADA Trophy for Juniors without a handicap, Charlie Grindal triumphed with an exceptional score of 39, dropping just four shots. Angus Clink was second with a score of 42, narrowly beating Fred Shippey who finished third with 43 points.

For the handicap golfers there were six players within just two shots, but the eventual victor was Ellie Horsted who finished with a nett 35. Junior Captain Emily Horsted was second with a nett 36 and third place went to Marcus Wildblood, playing in his first competition at the club, also with a nett 36.

Congratulations to Ellie on winning the Ancaster Shield and to Charlie for winning the ADA Trophy.
