New Captains for 2019!

At the recent AGMs, our new Captains were appointed. Simon Denton is the new Gents Captain, Helen Long is the new Lady Captain, and Mike Collins is the new Captain of the Senior section.

Simon has played golf since he was 14 and joined his first club, Erlestoke Sands Golf club, Devizes in 1992 before moving with his wife Jane and son Ross to Lincolnshire in 1998. He became a member at Belton Park in 1999 and has been very actively involved since retiring and is honoured to be Captain in 2019. Simon’s charity for 2019 is Prostate Cancer UK.

Helen has been playing golf for about 20 years, previously playing at Peterborough Milton Golf Club. Helen's favourite hole at Belton Park is the 10th. At home she lives with her better half Pete and two rescue cats, Rubie and Rosie. Helen’s charity for 2019 is The Alzheimer’s Society which focuses on care & research of one of the largest causes of dementia. It affects more than 42,000 people over the age of 65 in the UK and grows each year.

Mike took up golf in 1976 as an "occasional" player until he retired in 2002, when he joined Dore & Totley GC in Sheffield. He then lived in Spain for almost 8 years, where he had the privilege of being Captain of Costa Esuri GC in 2013. Since returning to the UK in 2015 he has enjoyed living in Grantham and being an active member at Belton Park. He is married to Bryony and has two adult sons and two grandchildren. Mike’s charity for 2019 is the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
