C Team v Sleaford C Team - lost 4-2

This match was played away on a warm afternoon and has a twist! Due to an admin error in our office, a 13th C team player attended (1 too many) and when Sleaford's Captain stated they were a player short - we did the honourable thing and offered our 13th player “Keith Smith” on a free transfer to make up their team!

Unfortunately for Belton Park it turned out that Keith’s part was pivotal in the match as he turned up with his A game and, partnered by Tony Cook from Sleaford, went on to beat Belton Park’s 4th pair, Clive Horn and Chris Hides 4&2!

The first pair was a duet of Ian’s (Carroll and Whyte) who started well, but went 2 down then fought back to level on the 9th hole, and eventually won over the 18 holes and went on to the best player of the year award.

All the team played well on lovely greens, but the fairways were very dry with lots of run on them. Gents Captain Simon Denton showed our new Team player Kevin Smith the act of coming second in gracious style!
