Belton Park Golf Club: Match News & Reports

Belton Park 2nd Team began their league campaign with an impressive away win at Stoke Rochford by 4.5 to 1.5 games. The win was some compensation for the defeat by Stoke Rochford in the last game of last season that decided the league title. This was also the first time the 2nd team had won at Stoke Rochford in a very long time. The results were wins for Terry Guest and Nigel Gibson, Gordon Lumsden and Steve Middleton, Paul Vernam and Michael Green, Tony Gleave and James Philpotts with David Price and Bob Chapple halving their match and the only defeat being suffered by Spike Carr and Ed Glenn. The 1st Team suffered defeat in a very tight match against Stoke at Belton. The match being won 3.5 to 2.5.

The Grantham Cup, run in conjunction with the equestrian event and sponsored by BEDE Ltd once again attracted a massive field. The Am Am format produced some excellent scoring with the team of Mick Brailsford, Mark Sutton, James Sergeant & John Kirkup securing victory with 89 points. In second on countback were John McClelland, Vincente Hamer, Brian Burns & Nigel Harris on 87 points from Pete Wilson, Gordon Lumsden, Ben Lilley & Ross Wilson. Fourth place, also on 87 points went to Tony Davies, Simon Pullen, David Nock & Keith Smith.

In the C Team match away at Stoke Rochford, there was another rare win. A strong Belton team prevailing 3.5 to 2.5.
